I have always been really drawn to the look of beadboard and chair railing in homes. Lately I have been seeing a lot more homes with moulding added to walls and ceilings, creating beautiful framed sections. Here are some of my favorite styles...

The Mod Shop ~ Napkin Rings

I was really drawn to these napkin rings while I was looking around on {Etsy} today. Usually, napkin rings are more round, and well, ring-like. I love the contemporary shape and design of these, with the traditional and vintage feel that the wood gives it.

Bram - The Art of Claypot Cooking

While in the wonderful Sonoma town square for Mother's Day brunch, we discovered {Bram} - an awesome store carrying clay pots for cooking and much more! Owners, Ashrf and Shelly Almasri, opened the store just 6 weeks ago - this place will surely be a success! Ashrf, being from Egypt, is familiar with the traditions of clay pot cooking. Aside from a wide assortment of clay products, they also carry beautiful Alabaster bowls, gorgeous wooden bowls and cooking utensils, and more. They even have one wall full of amazing cookbooks - but not your usual cookbooks - ones about the different exotic spices used in the Middle East, slow cooking with clay pots, and much more. The choice of books is impressive - not just for content but for the design and photography - some being works of art in and of themselves. While there, I got myself my first clay pot and my mom bought a truly amazing book - {Saha - A Chef's Journey Through Lebanon and Syria}. This place is well worth a visit - beautiful merchandise, and if you don't know much about clay pot cooking - the owner is really sweet, knows his products, and more than willing to explain.

Second Line Frames

This is a truly beautiful thing - the Second Line is a timeless New Orleans tradition of the colorful parade that follows a funeral procession to turn tragedy into a celebration of rebirth. With the same idea in mind, {Second Line Frames} are built from authentic wood siding salvaged from homes destroyed during Hurricane Katrina. It is a way of preserving a little part of the beloved memory of old New Orleans, while helping to rebuild it toward a better tomorrow. A portion of each sale goes to assist in the rehabilitation of affected neighborhoods. They now donate a minimum of 20% to a wonderfully active organization, {The Phoenix of New Orleans}. If you're not in the market for a frame but have a desire to help the cause, they will happily encourage donations directly to the charity. :)

Oslo Press

{Oslo Press} specializes in unique wedding invitations that combine the use of rich wood veneer and elegant paper. Each invitation is made of wood veneer and laser engraved with an original design, while the coordinating elements to each set are created using paper and the centuries-old method of letterpress. This unique combination of materials, methods, and contemporary design provides a unique invitation set - full of texture, character, and originality. These will surely leave a lasting impression with your guests :)

Rustic Yet Refined

I think this is a super cleaver and inexpensive way to keep all your earrings organized, protected, and easily accessible. Once covered in earrings, this can very well stand out as a piece of art on a wall or simply by leaning it up on a dresser or table. Earrings will hang on the strong but flexible mesh insert that is held between two solid handcrafted barnwood frames. What I love most about it is the rustic yet refined quality. Aside from the earring frames, they also have other wooden objects such as some really beautiful candle holders. All of this work is created and handcrafted {Paradise Hill Designs}.

Live Wire Farm - TIMBER

These are some really beautiful handmade works by {Live Wire Farm - TIMBER}. My favorite are the napkin rings! All of these are made with natural wood that is carved and sanded to be functional, but doesn't lose its original true form and characteristics.

Rowan's Room - Mirrors & Chalkboards

These adorable mirrors and chalkboards by artist/designer Ashley Rush are truly one of a kind, special handmade pieces made of quality materials. They can be found on her Etsy shop, {RowansRoom} Each one is crafted with love from antique cabinet doors - making them not only beautiful but environmentally friendly! Most of the cabinet doors used are over 100 years old, and it is evident in their unique textures and styles. The wood comes from trees such as Maple, Oak, Elm, and Eucalyptus. I think these are fun change to the usual, rather plain mirrors we see out there today - could be really nice for children's rooms, on a vanity, or simply as a decorative piece. The chalkboards are a great idea for just about anywhere in a home - especially the one pictured on a door knob - a cool way to write a message like oh...I don't know..."do not disturb" :)

Loyal Loot Log Bowls

What stood out to me about these bowls was the beautiful contrast between the natural wood and the high gloss bold colors of the inside finish. These bowls are handmade, using a variety of reclaimed trees. They are made by{Loyal Loot Collective} in Edmonton, Alberta in Canada.

Old Kitchen Cabinet = A Beautiful Tray!

Lately, I have started going to the Swap Meet here in San Luis Obispo and am all about the projects that involve restoring or re-purposing used/vintage furniture and anything else that might look cool! I love this idea and wish I had thought of it back when my parents remodeled our kitchen and threw out all the old cabinets! But in defense of my mom - she did make her office desk out of an old door :) Visit {Craftynest} to see how the trays were made.

My Favorite Before&Afters - Design*Sponge

{Design*Sponge} is seriously one of the things I look forward to each day. I am especially excited about seeing all the new Before & After projects that are featured. Some of these just amaze me - one must have the vision to see the potential in a something that most would throw away. The ones I have posted are my favorites that I have see over the past year. This may seem weird for some people, but if you are a type nerd like I am, you might agree that these are pretty sweet! The {Bamboo Type Coasters} come in a set of four and are made up of the typeface Baskerville - Semibold.
