Couscous Salad. Delish.
Ingredients
Salad
1 cup couscous
3 cups garbanzo beans
²⁄³ cup currants
²⁄³ cup red bell pepper, diced
½ cup scallions, chopped
½ cup fresh mint, chopped
½ cup pine nuts, toasted
½ cup parsley, chopped
Dressing:
½ cup extra virgin Olive Oil
½ cup lemon juice
1 tsp. garlic, crushed
½ tsp. ground cumin
Salt and black pepper to taste
Garnish
cherry tomatoes, halved or quartered
fresh mint
radish
Directions
Make the dressing by combining olive oil, lemon juice, garlic, ground cumin, salt and
pepper to taste. Mix well and set aside.
Soak the currents in warm water to plump up, then strain and dry them.
Boil 2 cups of water and add couscous. Remove from the heat and cover for about 10 minutes. Fluff the couscous with a fork and transfer to a bowl to cool.
Once the couscous has cooled, add garbanzo beans, currants, red bell pepper, scallions, fresh mint, pine nuts, and parsley. Add the dressing mix well.
Cover and leave out in room temperature for 1 hour or cover and refrigerate overnight. Return salad to room temperature before serving.
Garnish with cherry tomatoes, fresh mint, and radish.
This can be served as an appetizer, side dish, or add grilled chicken for a bigger meal.
Lacuna Wooden Books
The cool thing is that this morning when I was checking out Lacuna's Etsy shop there were over 20 books and I just checked it again - just a few hours later - there are only 2 left!

Studio Ten and a Half
to to work at other agencies, then moved back to London to start their own company.
I love the crisp, clean, and simplistic design of the {Heidi Klein from England} packaging with the beautiful touch of tissue paper with a subtle design. It is cohesive yet adds a slight touch
of something to break up the two-color solution. This solution represents a store that values
high quality.
The second set of packaging is the identity for {1860}, a tailored range of suits by Greenwoods Menswear. I loved that they incorporated the traditional chalk markings of tailors, which was intended to put an emphasis on the heritage of the company. The identity was then applied
to their packaging, promo pieces, and the annual brochure. I find this solution to be very
elegant with a bit of a personal and traditional, yet somewhat contemporary feel due to the
chalk markings.

Sorry for not posting this week. I am getting ready for a bunch of family coming to town for my birthday this weekend and I just haven't been able to make the time! Should be up and running again by Monday the latest! Thanks :)
Valentine's Day Engagement Party
Here are a few snapshots from a engagement party that we helped out with this past Saturday at the family's home. Love was in the air and Valentine's Day was the theme!

Classic White and Ivory
This traditional and classic white and ivory wedding was for Kimberly and Steven. Here are some amazing shots by Lace.
Kim's bouquet was an all white and ivory mix that included hydrangea, spray roses, freesia, lisianthus, gardenias, waxflower, and pearled stephanotis. She picked a burgundy criss-cross ribbon to incorporate her accent color.
![](https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiHi1dlDJLdH5zPMYmLBG2vbeoVye5ozcP_SBHPVxw0aUFeQ9IJiXS6KPmoO-ZHT48hVw47td-e7Lz-Eo-OLcIxZDGOD5N99vYQdLr7eKJe7BJJrRVBvz_yU-OW5wLV7z_DkBwvFZmv75Q/s400/I_0252.jpg)
The bride loved texture so we used a several kinds of greenery to give the whole bouquet more detail and interest.
The centerpieces at the reception were white hydrangea, ivory roses, and ivory waxflower in cube vases.
The burgundy table runners added a little extra color pop in the room.

Pink Show
also has a whole metal shop where artists created all sorts of sculptures and iron fences/gates.
It is a really interesting co-op working studio amidst the industrial part of downtown Fresno. At the time that we went, they were having a show called "Pink" in the gallery. There were many different forms of art, not necessarily done by established or professional artists, all having to do with with breast cancer. It was a very emotional experience and I was so glad to have found this gallery and to have seen the beautiful work being produced there as well as by the artists' work exhibited in the show.

Info About Centerpiece and Bouquet Trials
Occasionally, when we meet with a client/s, they will ask us about the possibility of seeing their bouquet or centerpiece before the big day. Sisters Flowers does offer both bouquet and centerpieces trials for our booked clients. As a courtesy, we only charge half price for our brides to see their arrangements put together, and the flowers are the bride's to keep.
We recommend doing a bouquet trial at your final consultation so that any changes that need to be made for your flower order can be done at that time. We also suggest doing a centerpiece trial at your tasting or, if possible, at your venue so that you can see the final look. We require at least a week's notice so that we can get the correct flowers and colors ordered.
Keep in mind, if you are using any seasonal flowers for your wedding, they may not be available to see at a trial, especially if the trial is more than a couple of months before the actual wedding date.
Sisters is confident in our style and design, but we do know the value of centerpiece and bouquet trials. For some clients, seeing their flowers before the wedding spoils the surprise for the actual day. For others, having an idea of what they can expect eases their minds and allows them to to enjoy themselves at their wedding.

An Interesting Use of Red & Green
Here are some snapshots that we took of some pretty red and green bouquets. This was a January wedding and the use of the ivory with the red and green gives the whole arrangement a very winter-y feel.
![](https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhkvrX7tp0xcLlRB9XW414ta-fRlmbd_7wx_9CGMRkokEBq_fw8RxpsjAys4l1AdQ24A-yHnhvVO4d3dfI77o3KHC4oW8ZZaX9QARtgn8FcKPc9LkMq-gWunyPATfdtGDIF9ouRKkmOgHQ/s400/IMG_7256.JPG)
The bridesmaids carried a round, hand-tied bouquet with ivory roses, bright green hydrangea, red spray roses, and ivory waxflower.
The shade of the bright green the bright red really gives this color combo a unique look and is not what most people would think of as the typical "red and green" holiday scheme for winter. We loved how vivid it looked!!
The bridal bouquet was a cascade style, with green roses and button mums, red berries and spray roses, bright green hydrangea, and white stargazer lilies.

Vintage Inspired Wedding
Here are some gorgeous shots of a wedding we did late last year. Mark and Shari (the bride and groom) had a vintage inspired look that they wanted to achieve. Below is a photo from the Spring/Summer 2008 issue of St. Louis Bride Magazine that was the starting point for the floral design.
![](https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj-8wFdcVFX-E2ZvayMVQ0ykfCf8_0zb8TV6y8Mt8tYm2SehPl2P_r4HmqEeKlpFMv2MzFTiTMVl3moMFya7TEJ2qHfVpqlG8ATttextsU1kfxdmvxLP6mMZg_XSUlxyT7A5IrKxwJ0xvM/s400/IMG_9626.jpg)
The ceremony and reception were both held at the Ritz Carlton in Clayton. We provided the canopy and flowers for the ceremony room.

Up close shots of the canopy show how the structure frames the bride and groom and gives the ballroom a focal point.

This was the bouquet we did for Shari that incorporated the hydrangea and hanging phaleonopsis orchids in her wedding colors.
