Two Weddings in White and Blue, Flowers by Sisters

These two weddings both had blue and white colors schemes. Take a look at how the flowers and accent colors are used in different ways.

Emily was married this past April. Her bouquet was an all white mix of lilies and other garden flowers.



All of Emily's attendants wore blue and carried all white bouquets as well for a very classic, clean look.

The aisle decorations at Emily's wedding carried through the clean, all white look.

Mary's wedding was this past August. She also used blue and white as her wedding colors. Her bouquet was a loose, lush bouquet in whites and blues.

Mary also chose to incorporate blue accents in her bridesmaids' bouquets to accent the blue in their dresses. (Fun fact: Both Emily and Mary have one bridesmaid in common--Mary's sister!!)

At her reception, Mary opted for lush, gardeny cube vases--some in blue and white and some in green and white.

Even though both Emily and Mary had very similar color schemes, they used the colors of the flowers in different ways.

It was a pleasure working with both brides and their families!!

All White Flowers at Lumen

Sisters Flowers helped with this very classic and sleek look for Lumen. All the flowers were white for this July reception. The color was brought in with the linens and lighting. The taller centerpieces were brought in from the ceremony, which was held under a tent in the backyard of the father of the bride. Another version of the centerpieces includes a cluster arrangement of two vases of flowers and a cube candle. The third centerpiece is a low arrangement with curly willow tips to accent.

Ceremony and Reception at Soulard Preservation Hall

Here is a unique way to use flowers for a ceremony and reception all in one location. Our clients for this event double-used ceremony and guest table flowers to decorate their space. The room was used for the ceremony and then turned over for the reception.

Cube vases filled with white hydrangea lined the stage for the ceremony. Afterwards, they were used for all the guest table decorations.







Julep cups with white hydrangea decorated the chairs at the ceremony and were later used to decorate the reception as well.

Our tall metal trees were set up on the stage to frame the bride and groom for the ceremony. They were left up for the reception and provided decoration in the room.

This was an excellent example of how flowers can be utilized fully at an event. It just takes planning and design work to make it happen seamlessly!

Lush Greenery

Recent trends in flowers for weddings and parties have been leaning more towards clean lines and very little, if any, greenery. While that look can be very beautiful and classic, here is an example of how greenery can be used in fun, unique, and interesting ways.

Laura and Robert were married in September at UMSL Provincial Chapel. Laura LOVED texture and greenery. She wanted all of her bouquets to be lush with greenery and minimalistic on the flower blooms.

The bridal bouquet included white dendrobium orchids, white lilies, white freesia, and waxflower filler. The different types of greenery really made the whole bouquet comes together. We used variegated pitt, fern, and variegated hosta leaves. The brown, curly accents, or monkey tail, really added even more interest to the already texture rich bouquet.

The bridesmaids' bouquets were very similar to the bridal bouquet. They used lots of mixed greenery and monkey tail as well as minimal white flowers.

At the church, different types of greenery, including variegated hosta leaves and Italian ruscus, were clustered to decorate the pews.

The reception was held at Greenbriar Hills Country Club. All the table decorations were rustic-looking urns filled to the brim with lush greens of all shapes and textures, with a little white filler accent.

The urns included several different types of greenery--variegated pitt and hosta leaves, Italian ruscus, magnolia leaves, fern, lily grass, and hanging amaranthus. More monkey tail and lotus pods were used to bring in brown accents.

We had a lot of fun designing the pieces for this wedding! It was so great to incorporate greenery in unusual ways to give the whole wedding a very earthy and gardeny look!

Using Your Containers for Centerpieces

We often have clients who have containers or vases that they would like to use for their receptions. Here is an example of just that. This bride had her reception at Moulin and gave us her own amber glassware to use for the centerpieces. These are the snapshots that we took of the set-up.

We filled the bride's containers with a lush arrangements of purple hydrangea.

We also took shots of the ceremony flowers and bouquets. Pink and purple were the main colors of the day.

We made these "altar" arrangements to frame the bride and groom for the ceremony.

The bride carried this lush, garden bouquet of all white and ivory roses and hydrangea.

The bridesmaids carried hot pink roses with purple filler.



It was a very nice color palette for late summer and we had fun working on this one!!

All White Wedding

Latashia and Terrance were married on Labor Day weekend. Their ceremony was on the Logan College campus and their reception was at Lumen. (See the previous blog about our BIG Lumen set-up to see the decor!) All of the wedding party wore white and had white flowers. The following are shots by our very own, Chelsea.

Latashia carried a bouquet of all white calla lilies with crystal accents.

The bridesmaids carried these white mixes of roses, hydrangea, spray roses, and crystal accents.

These ring bearer pillows were covered in white button mums.

Cute, cute, cute!!

The men wore mini calla bouts.

The little man had a small spray rose for his bout.

We had a great time working with Latashia, Terrance, and Latashia's sister, Jedidiah! Thanks to Rosemary Harris, the couple's coordinator, for helping make the whole wedding design possible.

Winder Wedding Bouquet

For all you brides out there who are looking ahead to your winter weddings, here are two winter flowers that are available to you in your season and together in no other season. This bouquet has amaryllis and tulips- two very elegant and winter-y flowers that we LOVE together. Take a look........

Emily was our bride from this past January. She wanted a very simple, elegant look for her flowers. We suggested these two types of blooms to also give her flowers a seasonal feel without being too overdone.



The amaryllis have a very large bloom and come in white, red, or burgundy. They are available from approximately November through mid-March. Mixed with the tulips or standing alone, they are an awesome flower that most people don't think to use in their wedding, which makes them unique!

White Linear Bouquet

This white and ivory bouquet has a unique shape and texture. The large white callas and green bells of Ireland help to give it a very linear shape, as opposed to a more rounded look. White freesia, jade berries, and roses also help to give the bouquet a lot of great texture--one of our favorite things here at Sisters. Take a look!

Classic Black and White at the MAC

This wedding was last fall at the MAC and used black and white in a classic and beautiful way.

Black was used as an accent, seen in the chair covers, favors, menu cards, and the glassware for the centerpieces. All the flowers at the reception were whites and ivories.

Half of the tables had these tall vases with a ball of white lilies, roses, tulips, and filler.

To contrast. the other half had these black bubble bowls filled with tulips, hydrangea, ranunculus, filler, etc.

These rented candelabras accented both ends of the head table and were decorated with all white, trailing flower pieces.

The end product of the classic black and white in this room was gorgeous and just what the bride and groom envisioned!
