Grammy-Inspired Typographic Art

So I was at the gym this morning, trying to get back into a habit of going regularly (we'll see
how that goes...), and I saw one of these Grammy ads in a magazine I was reading. I thought it was pretty awesome and wanted to share for those of you who love typography as much as I
do or just like cool designs!

A New Binding Technique

So, I decided to try out a new way of binding photo albums and it worked out great! It was
pretty time consuming, but that may have been because it was my first time - of course it was
fun nonetheless! I have also posted some of the other cover styles I am in the process of making. I am selling them if anyone is interested, but really I just wanted to show the way of binding I learned:) In addition to the the books, I also made some boxes from scratch. They are meant to be a set with the album (same style or one that complements it), but really they can be used
for anything!

Adventures in Italy

Photobucket

Here is a very small taste of my summer adventure in Italy - a graduation gift from my
wonderful aunt! We traveled together all over Italy, then headed off to Barcelona, Spain where we embarked on a 12-day cruise of the Mediterranean (more pics of that to come - didn't want to overload the page at on time!) All these long days at work made really miss being free to travel, so I thought I would share...and speaking of long days at work - why don't we take
hours off from work mid-day for a siesta???

Make Books All Day!

Photobucket

Photobucket

If I could, I would seriously make books all day long. There is something incredibly therapeutic about it that I cannot put into words. The first book here is a journal I had made for myself a while back and the second is a photo album for a friend. Both are done using the perfect binding method, with the beautiful recycled paper and book cloth I picked up from Paper Source, but if you are in San Luis Obispo, I recommend checking out the great finds at {Paper Sky}., which is pictured above - courtesy of {Cameron Ingalls Inc.} - a local photographer.

Labor Day Weekend Wedding

This is the wedding of Rachel and Max. We helped them out with their wedding on August 31st. Here are some beautiful photos by Susan Jackson Photography.

The cuddly bride and groom. Rachel carried a bouquet of white hydrangea, white freesia, and ivory spray roses. The groom wore a white freesia with hydrangea accent.

The bridesmaids carried blue hydrangea, pink berries, and white freesia. Alternating bridesmaids had green hydrangea in their bouquets, instead of blue.

We decorated our chuppah with fabric and clusters of blue hydrangea, ivy, and curly willow for the outdoor ceremony at Forest Park Golf Club. The same flowers, textures, and colors were carried through to the reception using the bride's ceramic urns for the guest tables to give a lush, gardeny feel.

Thanks to Rachel, Max and their families for being great clients!!

Central Coast Sunsets

I have been living in San Luis Obispo for almost 5 years now and cannot put into words, the sheer beauty of some of the sunsets I have been lucky enough to experience. The first photo was just taken in downtown SLO, but head out to the beaches of Pismo, Avila, or Montana de Oro and you will be blown away. The second two pictures were taken along highway 41 on my way to Fresno a while back. Boy was I glad I had my camera with me that time!

Awesome Amaryllis

Even though it might not seem obvious, winter is a great time for seasonal flowers! Here are some snapshots that we took of some amaryllis bouquets we did in late December and early January. Amaryllis is such a gorgeous flower and is only available in the winter months. Take a look:

This bridal bouquet is all bright red roses and amaryllis.

The bridesmaids' bouquets contrasted the bride's red flowers. They carried white amaryllis and ivory roses.

This bridal bouquets is already one of Shelly's favorites for 2009!! The white amaryllis are mixed with white tulips for a very wintery look!!

The bridesmaids carried an all white amaryllis bouquet.

For a special detail, the maid of honor carried all white tulips.

It just goes to show that the winter brides have great seasonal choices, too!!
