Two Fun Receptions

November was a great month here at Sisters! We did some awesome weddings and receptions! Here are some snapshots that we took while setting up at the Mad Art Gallery and Westborough Country Club.

This destination wedding reception at Mad Art Gallery had all the elements of a tropical island dream! The warm colors of the flowers and decor helped bring the tropical location of the ceremony to St. Louis in November!

The gallery walls were washed with pink and orange light. All the flowers had orange, lime green and hints of purple.

Half of the tables had tight, cube arrangements.

The other half of the tables had tall cylinder arrangements with curly willow and brightly colored flowers, including orchids.

This reception, at the Westborough Country Club, made great use of our trees and crystals! One-third of the guest tables had decorated trees, while the others had lush cube vases.

The trees were decorated with white hydrangea on the top and at the base with our crystals and hanging votives.

The cocktail tables had small cube vases in the wedding colors.

Special thanks to Ashley & Jeremy and Sandra & Nathan! We enjoyed working with you and we wish you all the best in your newly married lives!!

Can the bride's flowers be different?

Often, we get asked by clients if it is ok for the bride's bouquet to be different from the bridesmaids. Sometimes they are asking about color, and other times they are referring to the type of flower. In either case, it is perfectly fine, and common, for the bride to be set apart from everyone else in the wedding party. Here is an example from the wedding of Jen and Tanner.

(Photos by Nordmann Photography)

Jen carried large and mini white calla lilies, green berries, and looped lily grass.

The bridesmaids bouquets were green hydrangea, pink gerber daises, and ivory waxflower filler.

In this case, the bride's bouquet was more sleek and classic, and the bridesmaids carried bouquets that were lush and garden-y.

All the flowers from the bouquets were tied into the reception with two different centerpieces. Half of the tables had tall trumpet vases with large callas and lily grass (from the bride's bouquet). The other half of the tables had short cube vases filled with the lush flowers of the bridesmaids' bouquets.

Thanks to the newlyweds and their families for being so great to work with. Best wishes to the bride and groom!!

Wedding at Old Cathedral

This was a very romantic wedding this past June at the Old Cathedral. These great photos (by naturalaspects.com) show the inside of the church decorated with white hydrangea and callas.

Here are single stems of hydrangea tied onto the pews with satin ribbon.

What could be cuter than little girls as both flower girl AND ring bearer!!??

At the back of the altar, two vases of large white calla lilies make a statement.

The same type of arrangements used at the church altar were used on the tables at the reception.

Last, and probably best of all, is Carrie with her romantic all white bouquet of roses, pearled stephanotis, cymbidium orchids, and lisianthus.

Thanks to the bride and her family for letting us be a part of their special day!!

Dominie's Fall Wedding

Here is another look at our friend Dominie's wedding that we helped out with this past fall. She had a warm, fall color palate that looked absolutely GORGEOUS at the ceremony and the reception.

(Photos by David Tsai)

Lookin' good, Dominie!!

These bouquets were some of our absolute favorites from this year. Dominie carried a classic, all white bouquet of roses, hydrangea, and waxflower. The bridesmaids' bouquets were fall hydrangea, circus roses, and waxflower.

Look at how those colors POP against their dresses!

This shot really showcases the different textures in the bouquet.

Here are just a couple of shots of the reception. There are many more in our previous blog ("Trees at the MAC").

Our rental trees were decorated with these full, lush flower wreaths, covered in crystals, and accented in candlelight.

The opposite tables had these warm colored arrangements of wedding flowers.

Sending all our love and best wishes to the bride and groom!! Thanks for letting us be creative !

Think Dahlias...

One suggestion for an unusual flower with a whole lot of texture and brilliant color is the dahlia. They come in a wide range of colors from white to bright red and everything in between. They are available from about mid-late summer through the fall. Their color is superb and they give whatever arrangment they are in a ton of interest! Here are a few ideas:

(All photos by Browers Photography)

Amanda's bouquet was soft ivories accented by beautiful pink dahalias. Dahlias are a great substitute for poenies, if thier cost or availability is a concern.

Everyone loves dahlias!!

All our best to Amanda and Brendan!!

Brown and Pink

Pink and brown have become very popular colors for weddings. Here is how one of our brides incorporated that scheme into her wedding.

(Photos by Nordmann Photography)

This beautiful bride is Lindsay. She chose sahara roses, blush pink hydrangea, and looped brown pheasant feathers for her bouquet.

The bridesmaids carried bouquets of blush pinks and brown pheasant feathers, as well.

The centerpieces carried over the pink and brown theme into the reception at the Coronado. These tall arrangements had blush pink hydrangea, curly willow, and pheasant feathers.

Shorter arrangements on the opposite tables were tight, round and all blush pink.

Congratulations and bests wishes to Lindsay and Ryan!! It was a pleasure working with you!!

Casual and Cute Summer Wedding!

Here are some great pictures submitted by the Mother of the Bride of the wedding of Janelle and Phil. They were married on June 14th at Mudds Grove. Casual and fun was the style for this cute couple!

The bride and her maids.

The Bridesmaids carried bouquets of daisies, lisianthus, green kermit poms, and yellow and purple filler.

The bride chose white daisies, green kermit poms, and yellow filler arranged in a cascade style bouquet.

The Bride and Groom got married under the gazebo in the garden.

We decorated the gazebo with a garland of daisies and yellow ribbon. Two tall arrangements in silver buckets framed the couple.

The guys wore simple, white daisy boutonnieres to complement the ladies' flowers.

Our best wishes to the married couple! It was a pleasure helping you with your special day!

Wedding Decoration

Any Indian wedding is incomplete without decoration. Not only weddings, in India decoration is a must on all festive occasions and cultural events. Decoration only beautifies the surroundings but also fills it with positive energy. It is a form of celebration and expressing joy. It is even considered auspicious to decorate the venue where such activities are taking place so as to draw good luck and prosperity. Thus, it becomes all the more important to decorate a wedding venue as well as the houses of the respective families.

Moreover, flower decoration is considered inevitable. Marigold is the flower which is used in decoration as a tradition. Draped and hung Marigold garlands are a common sight in any wedding house. Besides, the decoration of the wedding venue is a vast issue. It is usually handled by florists and decorators, which also take care of the seating arrangement. The flower decoration can be of many types. You can even have a flower theme for your wedding and spill color and fragrance around.

Flower decoration is the most sought after in weddings. You can completely change the look of your wedding venue with the help of the decoration. For an ethnic and traditional look you can go for, roses, orchids, marigolds, gerberas, etc. For a westernized, expensive and plush look, you can go for fresh flowers like carnations, baby roses or lilies or orchid. You can even decide the floral arrangement as per your wishes and budget. In case you have a theme, match the color of the flowers with the theme.

Flower decoration plays an important role in setting the mood of the wedding, so it is always better to choose seasonal flowers. Different flowers represent different seasons and accordingly influence the environment and people around. Therefore, if you have your wedding in autumn, choose colors like red, burgundy, amber, yellow and rust. For summer go for light and pastel shades like pink, sky blue, citrus tone and for winter go for an evergreen effect, white and sparkling silver.

Nicole and Joel

Take a peek at the wedding of Nicole and Joel. They had a perfect day in May for their vows.

Photographs by naturalaspects.com

Nicole chose a cascade bouquet for herself. It included pink stargazer lilies, ivory roses, white gerber daisies, and waxflower filler.

The bridesmaids carried mixed brightly colored gerber daisies in a round, hand-tied bouquet.

All our best to the bride and groom! It was a pleasure working with you!
